Jeff Wells is so excited to be the new owner of Fleet Feet Sports Louisville!

Jeff recently moved to Louisville after a journey of owning and successfully operating other Fleet Feet stores. He opened his first store in Jackson, MS back in early 2002. That store has since won the coveted Fleet Feet “Rookie of the Year” and “Pinnacle” awards. The Jackson store just recently expanded into a space twice the store’s original size to accommodate the phenomenal growth. After Jackson, he took over the ownership and operation of Fleet Feet stores in both Nashville, TN and Elmhurst, IL. Both of these stores continue to do very well. Jeff says he loves moving to a community and making a difference!

Jeff has been running consistently for over 30 years. Maybe not considered an elite runner, he seems to have excelled with great dedication, persistence, and endurance. He jokes that he has been running for so long and worked through so many injuries that he has become a great resource to his customers! Jeff has run all the major distances numerous times but the marathon seems to be his passion. He claims that one experiences all of life’s emotions during the 26.2 mile distance! Jeff has completed over 30 marathons. His favorite is the still the Boston Marathon which he has successfully completed 5 times.

In 2006, Jeff was honored to represent Fleet Feet family as the first recipient of the Balega Sports annual “InDuna Award”. The award recognizes the store or individual who has best demonstrated outstanding leadership, commitment and service to their local community. As recipient of the award, Jeff travelled to South Africa to visit the Ethembeni School where some 300 disabled, disadvantaged children are provided hope. While there, Jeff ran the Comrades Marathon, a 54 mile trek across rural, magical South Africa.

Jeff is the proud father of two fine young adults. Son Jason, a recent college graduate, seems to be following in his dad’s footsteps as he is a manager in the Fleet Feet Jackson store. Daughter Allie is still in college, scheduled to graduate on time. Both children enjoy running and participating in the 5K, 10K and half marathon distances.

Jeff lives in The Highlands so don’t be surprised to see him running in Cherokee Park or in the nearby neighborhoods. Check out Jeff's blog Inspire to Run for running tips and much more!
