New Balance & Molly’s! owners purchase Fleet Feet Sports Sarasota
SARASOTA, Fla., November 18, 2011
Expanding their commitment to Sarasota’s running and fitness community, New Balance Sarasota, New Balance University Park and Molly’s! owners, Molly and David Jackson, recently acquired Fleet Feet Sports Sarasota. Located at 1830 S. Osprey in Southside Village, the Jacksons took over the franchise previously owned by Pat and Mackenzie Jones, who opened Fleet Feet Sports Sarasota in 2008. With the Jones’ being recognized for their strong running and fitness community ties and training programs, the Jacksons share their passion and commitment to continuing carrying quality brands, providing shoe fit expertise and offering community outreach and training programs, much in the same way they have within their New Balance organizations since 2002.
“This is a win-win scenario for everyone,” said Mackenzie Jones. “We all share the same vision and goals to running, fitness, personalized service and the community. Both Sarasota and Fleet Feet are fortunate to have the Jacksons add Fleet Feet Sports Sarasota to their growing number of specialty shoe stores,” Jones added.
The Jacksons join the Fleet Feet family of 90 other franchised stores in the United States. After being closed for remodeling and inventory expansion, Fleet Feet Sports Sarasota re-opened in mid-October. The Jacksons retained many former Fleet Feet Sports Sarasota fit experts as well as rely on many of the resources already in place within the Jackson’s organization. The purchase does not affect the Jacksons’ two New Balance stores or Molly’s, all of which have been embraced by New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc. based in Boston, MA.
“The culture of this Fleet Feet Sports is a natural fit for us with our New Balance history and dedication to providing quality products by outstanding fit experts,” said Molly Jackson. “The Fleet Feet acquisition will allow us to expand our offerings to Sarasota’s running and fitness minded community to include other high quality brands including Asics, Nike, Brooks, Saucony and Superfeet, to name a few, as well as have another store location to offer New Balance products,” Jackson added.
