Tom Raynor, Chairman & CEO: Tom has seen every side of the running industry. Since he started running cross country in the mid 1960's, Tom’s background includes being a collegiate athlete, a specialty retail clerk, and an early employee of Nike. Tom has led the design, development, and marketing groups at Brooks and served as assistant press secretary to Governor Jimmy Carter of Georgia. In 1993, Tom’s focus turned to resurrecting Fleet Feet, Incorporated, where he currently serves as Chairman and CEO. He continues influencing the direction of the brand and plays an invaluable role as visionary for the company. In 2007, Tom was inducted into the Running USA Hall of Champions for his leadership, innovation, and outstanding contributions to running. His love of running continues undiminished today.
Jeff Phillips, President: Jeff joined Fleet Feet, Incorporated in 2001 and was named President in 2004. An avid fitness enthusiast, Jeff was a track and cross country standout at Virginia Tech in the early 1980’s where he discovered the business side of running while working at his college coach’s specialty running store. After gaining valuable specialty retail experience, Jeff followed his passion for the sport and business of running to Brooks Sports where he spent 14 years and held various senior level sales and marketing positions prior to joining Fleet Feet, Incorporated. Jeff’s extensive industry and management experience has made him a perfect fit for his role within Fleet Feet, Incorporated. Since joining Fleet Feet, Jeff has overseen the development of the company’s infrastructure and management team. As President, he is responsible for all day to day operations of the company including financial and strategic planning. Jeff and his wife Norris have two children and reside in Carrboro, NC.
Luke Rowe, VP Business Development: Luke joined Fleet Feet, Incorporated in 2003 as our first Brand Manager working with New Balance. Luke began his career in the specialty retail business in 1978 and gained 11 years of running retail experience before moving on to Brooks Sports in 1992. While at Brooks, Luke worked in positions ranging from field marketing and sales to Vice President of Sales. In December of 2005 Luke assumed responsibilities as Vice President of Business Development at Fleet Feet. Aside from overseeing the development process for all new franchisees, Luke has played a key role in the creation of the Fleet Feet Personal FIT Process. Luke began running in 1968 and, while he no longer competes competitively, he has fond memories of how fast he used to want to be.
Joey Pointer, Director of Franchise Operations: Joey joined Fleet Feet, Incorporated in 2004 as Financial Manager after spending two years as a tax consultant at Ernst & Young LLP. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration and his Masters in Accounting. Joey established himself as more than a financial guru within the company when he helped standardize the franchisee training process in 2006. He performs ongoing store business reviews and analysis, oversees personnel and legal matters, and is our resident expert on store policy and procedure. Joey has completed several marathons and one Ironman. He rides a scooter to work and currently resides in Chapel Hill with his wife, Ivy.
Brian Breedlove, Financial Manager: Brian joined the Company in February 2008 as Financial Manager. Brian will take over responsibility for financial analysis, budgeting, oversight of audit, and legal compliance of the Franchise Agreements. In addition, he will provide operational support to both new and existing franchisees with a focus on financial and inventory management. Brian comes from Nortel where he worked in a variety of roles, most recently as Senior Financial Analyst with budgeting, financial planning, and analysis responsibilities. He has a Masters degree in Accounting and a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Robyn Goby Larson, Marketing Manager: Robyn joined Fleet Feet, Incorporated in 1993 in the position of Franchise Support Coordinator. Her role within Fleet Feet has grown considerably, as Robyn now oversees all marketing and special events. She is responsible for developing marketing plans for new stores as well as coordinating the renowned Fleet Feet, Incorporated summer and winter conferences. An All-American in the 400 meters from Brandeis University, Robyn graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in American Studies. She currently resides in Superior, CO with her husband Scott Larson and their son Michael.
Kelley Martin, Information Technology Manager: Kelley first arrived at Fleet Feet, Incorporated in 2002 after accumulating years of information technology experience with the fortune 500 company Sara Lee and the southern regional banking leader, Branch Banking and Trust (BB&T). As the IT Manager for Fleet Feet, Kelley works with all franchisees to implement new computer systems as well as provide training and on-going support for store operations. She is the creator of the Fleet Feet intranet and extranet and oversees its group development. Kelley lives with her husband George in southeast Pennsylvania. She is an avid marathon runner and fitness enthusiast.
Bryan Mills, Director of Franchise Development: Bryan joined Fleet Feet, Incorporated in January 2007. For the previous 5 years he worked for the Eaton Corporation in a variety of roles, from engineering to operations to strategic planning. Namely, he served as Global Product Manager, where he helped market and launch new products. At Fleet Feet, Incorporated, Bryan works closely with new franchisees from the moment they sign their franchise agreements through the first two years of operation. Bryan and his development team will also be responsible for franchise ownership transitions. He plays a supportive role in helping with vendor relations, project management and business analysis. One of his ambitions is to introduce the best practices from other industries to specialty retail. Bryan earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University with a concentration in design. He is a self-described recreational runner and lives with his wife, Alexis in Chapel Hill, NC.
Frank Pitts, Franchise Development Manager: Frank joined Fleet Feet, Incorporated in 2005 and has proven to be the cornerstone of our Franchise Development process. As the initial contact for prospective franchisees, Frank is an expert on franchise policy and procedure. He devotes nearly all his time and energy to new and potential franchisees from the first moment they show an interest in owning a Fleet Feet Sports store. His ambition is to bring the franchisees’ dreams of ownership to fruition. Prior to joining Fleet Feet, Frank gained industry experience from small business to the corporate level. He owned his own sporting goods store for several years and spent 4 years with Performance Bicycle in product management. Frank earned his B.S. in Management from Bentley College. He has run several marathons and has completed two Ironmans.
Rachel Thiede, Champion & Moving Comfort Brand Manager: Rachel Thiede joined Fleet Feet, Incorporated in July 2007 as Brand Manager for both Champion and Moving Comfort. She will put her energy into our bra program and focus on women's initiatives. Rachel was involved in opening the first Paiva store in the mall-based women's speciality retail business that operates under the Finish Line brand. She has managed single and multiple stores, and has been involved in merchandising, staff hiring, and development. Rachel spent three years in the Navy as a Surface Warfare officer after graduating from the University of North Texas with a B.B.A. in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship.
Cassie King, New Balance Brand Manager: Cassie King joined the company in July 2007 as the New Balance Brand Manager. She will manage all aspects of our partnership with New Balance. Cassie comes to us from the New Balance Tech Rep team. Prior to this she graduated from The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications. She was also the captain of the UNC women’s cross country teams her junior and senior years.
Mike Forsterling, Saucony Brand Manager: Mike joined Fleet Feet, Incorporated in November 2007. Mike graduated from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas with a BA in Criminal Justice. He spent several years with Spectrum Brands, a supplier to Lowe’s Companies, having worked in Supply Chain, Inventory and Demand Planning, Manufacturing, and Customer Service Management. Mike had his first taste of Fleet Feet Sports through his part-time work in the Madison, Wisconsin store. His focus at Fleet Feet Inc. will be to drive the growth of the Saucony brand through a strong vendor partnership, detailed market analysis, and by acting as a dedicated franchisee resource. Mike has completed several full and half-marathons, and volunteers annually for Ironman Wisconsin. At the 2007 Ironman, he was named Volunteer Captain of the Year. Mike and his wife, Amanda, have three children, Noah, Ethan, and Ella.
Talia Herman, Brooks Brand Manager: Talia Herman joined Fleet Feet, Incorporated in March 2008 as the new Brooks Brand Manager. Talia arrives at Fleet Feet Sports from Spenco Medical Corp. where she was the Marketing Manager for the company’s sports & specialty product lines. Over her four-year tenure at Spenco, Talia managed all of the marketing and branding needs for the sports business, along with the private label sales and product development for CVS Pharmacy and Sara Lee Corp., all athlete and event sponsorships, as well as the consumer promotions campaign. Talia was born and raised in a small farming community in Saskatchewan, Canada and later received her Bachelor of Commerce and Marketing degree from the University of Saskatchewan. Her passion for travel has taken her to New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Tibet and China. She has completed two half-marathons and numerous middle-distance races. Talia now lives near the Fleet Feet Sports corporate offices in Carrboro, NC with her fiancé Ian.
Anne Raynor, Office Manager: Anne joined Fleet Feet, Incorporated in November 2006 as Office Manager. Since that time she has become a shining example of Fleet Feet hospitality. Anne has heightened our franchise development process to a world-class affair with her ability to make every guest feel at home, from making reservations to booking flights to catering meals. She is a central figure in the office and is a tireless worker. The list of her responsibilities within the office is too long to print here. Prior to joining Fleet Feet, Anne spent 29 years with the Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta, Georgia as a Case Manager. She recently spent 3 years with the Chestney Hawkins Law Firm as a Legal Assistant. Anne has one daughter and 3 beautiful grandchildren in Atlanta, Ga.
Jason Jabaut, Assistant Office Manager: Jason joined Fleet Feet, Incorporated in October 2006 as temporary Office Manager. He attained full-time status in March 2007. He is responsible for many day-to-day responsibilities in the office including (but not limited to) bookkeeping, editing the company newsletter, and hospitality. Jabaut graduated from Villanova University in 2004 with a B.A. in English.
