A map of Hartford

Take a right just before State Street into the Mortensen Riverfront Plaza and pass the (4) Connecticut Science Center on your right. Run down the steps. Take a left and enjoy a peaceful stretch along the Connecticut River (Riverwalk N). Just after a mile, loop around the trail and go back the way you came (with the river now on your left).

Hit two miles right before you power back up the stairs. From here, continue straight onto Pearl Street, passing the (5) Old State House on your right after the gold glass skyscraper (the tallest in Hartford).

At around 2.75 miles, run right onto Ford Street. The entrance to (6) Bushnell Park on the corner of Asylum Street is your cue to shoot left into the park. At the first trail intersection, take another left and run past the (7) Corning Fountain. Go left again and then immediately right onto Trinity Street. Hear your GPS watch click over to three miles and take a few more steps to run under the (8) Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch.

From here, absorb your view of the (9) Gold-Domed State Capital Building on your right as you turn left to run down Elm Street. It’s a straight shot to the roundabout where you veer left (first “exit”) down Trumbull Street. Take Gold Street on your right.

Pause and take in the (10) Ancient Burying Ground next to Hartford’s (11) Carl Andre Stone Field sculpture. When you get to Main Street, turn right to finish your run where you started.

Want to run longer? You can easily tack on 1.25 miles and catch a glimpse of the Asylum Hill Congregational Church by staying on Asylum Street all the way to the intersection of Asylum Avenue and Huntington Avenue (on your right). From there, head back from whence you came. Take a right into Bushnell Park to finish out the loop.
