Joey joined Fleet Feet, Incorporated in 2004 as the first classically trained financial employee. Prior to joining Fleet Feet, he spent time as a senior tax consultant for Ernst and Young LLP. After interviewing for almost a full year, Jeff Phillips and Tom Raynor finally decided to hire him. Joey quickly gave up the suit and tie in exchange for the casual atmosphere of Fleet Feet Sports.
After mastering the basics of our internal financials and legal structure, he quickly established himself as more than a financial guru within the company. He began laying the framework for standardizing the new franchisee education process. A self-proclaimed “jack of all trades and master of none,” much of his time is spent on forward-looking operational innovations such as the Point of Sale System, the Balanced Scorecard, the Customer Experience Tool, Footwear Buying Tools, and CFO in a Box. Joey oversees the Operations division of the company, which covers our franchise operational assistance on items such as financial and inventory management as well as Fleet Feet, Incorporated’s internal financial and legal items.
Joey attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration and his Masters in Accounting. He is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of North Carolina and is a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
While he now enjoys runs that involve stopping to eat donuts at Krispy Kreme, he has at one point in time completed several marathons and one Ironman. He currently resides in Chapel Hill with his wife, Ivy, and three children, Chandler, Liam and Cullum.
